Painstakingly typing in route details is a thing of the past

If you use a Pocket PC navigation system then we have exciting news for you. Thanks to its special interface, you can use map&guide base to send your planned routes to any of the most popular navigation systems (currently map&guide navigator, Falk Navigator, MarcoPolo Mobile Navigator, TomTom, Navigon and Destinator) – with just a simple click of the mouse.

What’s more, data transfer to a Pocket PC is not the only feature that the interface offers. Example: You want to use a previous route that you used a long time ago but the rules for traffic flow and turn-offs have changed. In this use you would usually have to "feed" the information in again, in other words enter the entire route again manually. However map&guide base can synchronise the data and can simply update the route on the navigation device if required.

No more address confusion - get to where you want to go

If you want to drive to High Street or Market Place in London, then even the best navigation system can get confused because in these cases there are several streets with the same name. And if you are trying to find a specific entrance to a company’s site, e.g. gate 8, your navigation device will more than likely let you down as it can only deal with street addresses.

Fortunately help is at hand: Thanks to map&guide base you can now "teach" your Pocket PC the exact locations of your destinations quickly and easily. Even with a standard car it can take at least half hour for your navigation device to guide you to the main entrance when you actually need to get to the gate at the other end of the neighbouring industrial site. And if you’re driving a 5-axle lorry it doesn’t bear thinking about.

However with map&guide base you can simply enter the exact coordinates of your destination and then use the interface to ensure that your navigation system finds the actual address required. This also works of course for street names that occur more than once in large towns cities where your navigation system doesn’t know which road you want.

It is currently possible to synchronise address data with the following devices:

  • Falk Navigator SC
  • MarcoPolo Mobile Navigator
  • map&guide fleet navigator
  • map&guide truck navigator
  • TomTom Navigator 5
  • Navigon MobileNavigator 5
  • Destinator 6

Simply take your optmised route with you on your journey

The most direct route is not always the one that suits you the most. If, for example, you have planned a short trip or you want to take the scenic route to your destination, this usually means hard work: the painstaking task of entering each route point on your Pocket PC by hand.

Now map&guide base can relieve you of this time-consuming task with help from its navigation interface. You can then transfer your selected route point list to your Pocket PC at the click of mouse. Using the interface it is extremely straightforward to compile a range of completely different routes for frequently driven stretches of road – for different weather types, days of the week, times of the day or specific personal preferences. Simply piece your route together with a few mouse clicks and then transfer the route to your Pocket PC in the blink of an eye.

This means it’s even worth trying out a few shortcuts or detours just for fun.

It is currently possible to transfer route point lists to the following devices:

  • Falk Navigator SC
  • MarcoPolo Mobile Navigator
  • map&guide fleet navigator
  • map&guide truck navigator
  • TomTom Navigator 5
  • Navigon MobileNavigator 5
  • Destinator 6
